The Big Move

We have arrived! We are now in our new home in India and what a journey it has been getting here! I plan on keeping my blog with updates of what is happening with us and I will also post pictures on here. So, let me start by telling you about what has been happening with us over the last month.

We packed up all our belongings from our house in Luton and they were sent in a large container on a ship mid-May. We hope to receive it all safe and sound in India by the end of June (fingers crossed). At least this time round we don't have to deal with the customs clearance – it is going to be delivered to our door which is fantastic! I'm really looking forward to being surrounded by our belongings again after living out of a suitcase for the past few weeks. Here are some pictures of the big move from our house in Luton:

Can you believe the size of that container?!

Even though our belongings left UK mid-May, we didn't leave England until the 28th May. It was a bit manic on the morning we left because we didn't wake up until 5.55 a.m and the taxi was picking us up at 6.10 giving us just 15 minutes to wake up, get washed and dressed, feed the children and pack the last minute things (such as the children's bedding) into the cases and get everything out the house. It was completely crazy and then we had the nightmare of not being able to fit everything into the taxi! We had 3 large suitcases, 1 small suitcase and 3 pieces of hand luggage, oh, and the pushchair. All of that combined with the four of us made it a very tight squeeze into the taxi! Dylan, Abigail and myself sat on the back seat surrounded by bags at our feet and then the pushchair across our laps. Luckily, it was only a short journey to the train station. We got a train to Gatwick airport and then a flight to the Dominican Republic for our two week (much needed) holiday.
