Tuesday 13th July

Thank you Laura for the wonderful parcel. It arrived this morning and Dylan just went crazy for all the posters! I think I'm as excited as him to put them up on the walls! :) I took a few photos of children when the parcel arrived …

What a lovely way to wake up in the morning – to have someone ringing your doorbell with a parcel! Thank you!

This morning has been a bit hectic – not because we went out or were planning on going out or anything like that … It's just that last night both the children started coughing and I woke up this morning with a really sore eye. All of it is caused by the air conditioner blowing directly over the beds. So, when I got up the first thing I decided to do was rearrange our bedroom and DJ's bedroom.

Pen was still sleeping so I took both the children in Dylan's bedroom and they played while I rearranged furniture. It looks good in the new layout and it means DJ can sleep without the air conditioner blowing directly onto him. As it turned out, Penri then moved from our room because DJ was trying to wake him up by shouting 'Cake UP!' (he can't say 'wake'), so I kept both children in our room while Pen went to sleep in DJ's room. I then had the chance to rearrange our room. I'm not sure about the new layout of the furniture but at least the a/c is no longer blowing over our bed.

Pen went to work at lunchtime and Dylan went down for a nap and then Abigail ended up going to sleep too. It was amazing to have both of them sleeping at the same time. Mel said to me 'you should sleep too' and she was probably right; I should've slept but just the novelty of having some completely uninterrupted time was too much so I spent some time on my computer sorting folders and chatting on Skype to Mel and Debs. As it turned out, Abi didn't sleep very long anyway so I probably wouldn't have had more than 15 minutes sleep even if I'd gone to bed when they did.

I find it really amusing that once you have children your entire life changes. Everything revolves around them and I just find myself worrying all the time about Dylan and Abigail. But as much as you love your children and dote on them and put their needs before yours, when you do get just a few minutes peace and quiet, time on your own, it is such a nice feeling of just … bliss! When I think that, I actually feel selfish for wanting just 10 minutes a day on my own but I think any mother would say the same thing.

Once the children woke up in the afternoon, the rest of the day just seemed to fly by. I did contemplate taking them swimming at 6 ish but I was really tired and they both seemed tired too so I thought I would give it a miss. I also knew that we had an early start tomorrow so I wanted the children to have a good night.

I spoke to my dad on Skype tonight and he got to see the two children too. He said they both look like Penri (which I agree with) and that they look like each other. We compared photos and I think they do … this is them at the same age (5/6 months) …

Not much other news from here really. Still settling down, still getting used to things and still waiting for our cargo!
