I cannot believe it's the end of the first week of September. School holidays are over and the new school year begins! Where does the time go?
We had a nice day planned today – Dylan's friend Tia was coming over to play in the afternoon so I decided to do some baking with him in the morning. We baked two chocolate cakes. I was a bit worried about how they would turn out as 1) we didn't have a whisk so had to use a fork and 2) DJ didn't want me to whisk the cake mixture, he wanted to do it, so I wasn't sure what it would be like. I also had a bit of a panic about the icing sugar and ended up calling my Aunty Ann on Skype to ask her advice. As it turned out, the cake was delicious and the icing sugar was even better. Shame I couldn't get DJ to help me clean the bowl. He doesn't really like sweet things – he's more like Penri – crisps over chocolate any day! I wonder if Abi will be like me and eat anything as long as it's sweet. So, the chocolate cakes came out well and we were all set for Emma and Tia to come and play.
I tried to put DJ down for a nap at midday, thinking at least by 3 p.m when they got here, he would be refreshed and feeling up for a play date. He wouldn't sleep so when they did get here, he was already really tired. He was so naughty and really not very nice to Tia that in the end at about 4 o'clock he went to sleep. Tia didn't mind – she was quite happy to play with Abi instead as she loves babies. We had a really lovely afternoon and once Emma left, I spent the time quickly tidying up and then chilling with the children who had both now had a nap so were all set for playing! :) Unfortunately due the late naps in the afternoon, DJ didn't go to bed until about 10 p.m! Well, he went to bed at 7.30, but didn't sleep until 10!
